For sale is a very nice, VERY accurate rifle with just about everything you need to get going in competitive shooting or poofing prairie dogs out to 1000 yds. The rifle belongs to a friend who bought it new and mostly shot it at his local range in its original configuration. He then upgraded to a new custom barrel and benchrest trigger and dabbled VERY briefly in 600 yd benchrest shooting. I shot against this rifle -- it's a shooter that I believe has a lot of potential. Here's what we have:
Caliber: 6mm BR Norma (.272 no-turn neck).
Action: Remington 40XBR action. Smooth as silk. Very clean and excellent overall condition. Includes Blackhawk 20 MOA picatinny rail.
Triggers: Current trigger is a Jewel benchrest trigger set at approximately 2 oz. (I cannot measure with my trigger scale). Also available is the original Remington benchrest trigger (unsure of pull weight).
Barrels: Current barrel is a Brux heavy varmint contour; 1:8 twist; 30" long with tapered crown and high-polish finish. Barrel was chambered in 6mmBR Norma with .272 no-turn neck and fitted by well-known bench rifle builder, Bill Zaborowski (Wisconsin). This barrel was fitted in 2016 and has less than 50 rounds fired. This is an awesome barrel! Also available is the original Remington barrel in 6mm BR with .266 neck; 24" long; approx. 1500 rounds fired; bore still looks good; chamber/throat condition unknown. Barrel exterior looks good. Drilled and tapped (2 screws) approx. 7" from action.
Stocks: Two stocks are available. First is the original 40XBR, green-painted wooden benchrest stock. Action area and first 1" of barrel are bedded. Slippery tape on forend. Overall condition is very good. Second stock is a laminated thumbhole stock. Action area and first 1" of barrel are bedded, and action is pillar bedded (3 pillars). This stock was used most recently on the rifle. A rear rail and front rail were made and attached so the rifle would slide in the rear bag and front rest like a dedicated benchrest rifle. That said, a couple of extra screw holes are present, both of which could be easily filled. The front and rear slides are included.
Dies: Available are Forster full length sizing die (018121), Forster neck sizing die .266 (006451) and Forster Ultra micrometer seater die. These dies were ordered when the new barrel was fitted, so they have very little use.
Brass: 22 pieces of new Lapua 6mm BR Norma brass. 38 pieces Lapua brass with necks turned for use in original Remington barrel; unknown number of firings but look good. 24 pieces Lapua brass for new barrel; probably 2X fired.
Bullets: 155 pieces Berger 6mm 105 gr Hybrid Target (PN24433; lot #9269).
