Almost countless little details.....Gotta keep thinking how to improve. IMHOGlad to see a thread I started almost 2yrs ago was brought back to life.
If anyone is interested.
I left the rifle alone as .222
Reformed some lapua 223 into 222 to start off with, shot IMR4064 with Sierra 52gr bullets.
Excellent results.
Most recently, new lapua 222 brass, CCI BR4, IMR4198 (18.5gr)
@100yds 10shts into .2" size groups
@200 yds 1.5 - 2" groups (anyone can tell me what possibly can be happening @200yds that the groups are opening up so much)
Glad to see a thread I started almost 2yrs ago was brought back to life.

Maybe go up to 18.8 gr, & also adjust your seating depth a little.Glad to see a thread I started almost 2yrs ago was brought back to life.

I wouldn’t expect the bullets are coming apart. Something is broken or loose or it’s you and your bench setup.Glad to see a thread I started almost 2yrs ago was brought back to life.

So what happens at 200? I wonder if that’s several groups at both distance.I don't think something broken or loose will shoot into .2 @ 100.
I would find a reason to post this target once a month.“Are there any .222 advantages over .223?”
yeah, it’s a little easier to shoot bugholes with the 222.
this is 5 shots @ 100 yds from a 40XBR
No, I have you beat. My heirs will sell my mint condition ADL in 222 for 450$. Then she will throw in four boxes of NOS Norma 222.I have an older Remington 700 in .222 Rem. All stock, even the trigger. This is the rifle that I won a lot of factory class matches with, and started me down the rabbit hole most commonly called "Benchrest" matches.
I hadn't shot this rifle for at least 20 years, and decided to drag it out to the range.
Yep! Still a keeper! My wife will probably sell this rifle for next to nothing some day after I'm gone...

If I ever DO rebarrel it, I will go with .222 Rem. again! Remember, this is NOT a custom rifle - completely STOCK - older Remington 700.
