Remage barrels?

i admit I am perplexed. It feels smooth as butter. But it will have a dozen dark blue patches after 40 rounds.
 
OK, back to this Ruger thing. I just looked at the rifle, and see no slot or groove that would require timing the barrel. Could someone with knowledge please splain?? jd

I don't see how that is possible for a M77, as it has an extractor cut.

Does some one make a nut barrel and nut for ruger MKII rifles? MY old .243 heavy barrel is toast I believe and would love to do that on the cheap.
 
  • Donny I actually have a Hall actioned rifle that has a Jewel trigger also. That Jewel is set like one of Cathy's Scott releases at about 1 oz. I bought it in 6PPC, and it still is but when the Kreiger is toast it will be a 30PPC. I wanted a 30 BR but I don't think the bolt will allow it.

I have never seen a barrel foul like this thing. It is a 243 and it does shoots great, even fouled. But my other 243 is a Bartlein 5r and it fouls so little it's not even worth talking about.

i did not know criterion sold blanks? Mabie its just to the trade. thanks for the heads up on the fouling.

i got rid of my savages for just the reason you have talked about. Got a 783 also to take over savage duty. There are many good features on the 783 IMO-i sure wish they would have set it up to take 700 triggers to though but i wish the 700 triggers bolted in like the 783. The downside of 783 for me is getting parts, tools ect but im keeping mine.
 
I don't think it's scary to shoot, I actually love to shoot. If it is scary to you, you must not be doing it right. Get some instruction from some one who knows how and enjoys it.
 
Anyone saying theyre dangerous or scary to shoot isnt thinking this through. How many savages have blown up without some sort of operator error (pistol powder, obstruction etc)...

What the diameter of an AR10 barrel shank? 1"-16
How many of those explode?

What about Ruger RPR's? They use fundamentally the same design.

The design has been proven for DECADES.

Your going to blow the bolt back into your face or split the action tenor long before the barrel ruptures at the shank.

Theyre just as accurate as a barrel of similar contour and quality, and they work.
 
Anybody ordered a Remage from Match Grade Machine yet? I have really liked their T/C Encore barrels, and see they are now advertising Remages.
 
Can I get a Remage in .260 and still put in the .308 barrel back in. I would headspace the .260 w/ the barrel nut but assume that the .308 is properly headspaced for the bolt that is in it now. The .308 barrel is far from shot out & shoots very well!
 
I went to the match grade machine website, I never could find a remage barrel but did find where they say they make them.

The 783 has a lot of potential but not much support yet. I built a XTC match rifle with a criterion barrel, PTG aics bottom metal and stock I made. It shoots great, feeds great but needs a different trigger.
The remage concept is solid, affordable and convenient and is evident by more and more barrel makers offering it.
