My first attempt at removing the barrel from my Rem 700 was not successful.
Tools:
Davidson Barrel Vice
Wheeler Action Wrench
Rubber Mallet
Tried using a piece of leather to "cushion" the barrel inside the vice. When trying to unscrew the action from barrel, the barrel kept rotating/slipping in the vice even after a lot of torque on barrel vice nuts.
Next attempt was using painters tap on barrel to keep in from slipping. No luck. Lots of torque too. Barrel is getting getting marred and I'm not concerned about that.
Will rosin help?
Looking to even score on this project and successfully remove the factory Rem 700 barrel.
