Rem 788 Action, any good?

I was pawn shopping today and found a Remington 788 in 22-250 for $200 bucks, well almost picked it up but wasnt sure.

Looks like rebaralling would be kinda easy, the action looked pretty stiff plus the mag was a single stack so an ackly would feed well if I am correct?

Any info on this would be great

Fellow here in NC used to shoot a 788 in Highpower over the course shooting. He had several neck surgeries and no longer shoots. Anyway, he shot a shortened .243AI, which was about the same length as a .250 savage case. It worked great and fed great from 788 mags.

It is a very stiff action. Really fast lock time too. For $200 you won't beat it. If in nice shape, you should snatch it.

dont care if bluing is off the barrels
and or the stock needs refinishing
