rem 700 feed jam

I have a rifle built with a new Rem 700 short action. It will not feed the last round in the magazine. Is it spring tension related or follower or what?

Depends. Is the round not being picked up by the bolt because the rear of the case is not high enough for the bolt to catch it or is it something else?

If it is the former, you might check to be sure the magazine spring is far enough back in the magazine box to push the rear of the last case up far enough.
