What do you need to soak them in to get rid of the adhesive they put on the adjustment screws?

Have you tried something like "Goof Off" ?

Most guys I know just scrape it off with a dentist's pick.

If you apply a small amount of heat to the "goop" it easily scrapes out in one chunk with a pick or tiny flathead screwdriver.

agr516 nailed it. Tip of a soldering pencil on that one. Heat it up until it stinks. Thats the epoxy giving it up.

If it's the same stuff I remember, then you merely need a tiny flat blade screwdriver, and you can pry it off.

After adjusting the screw -- meaning I would ONLY adjust the spring-weight screw whenever possible, leave the others alone -- then I would test the rifle a couple of dozen times, cocking it to make sure it stayed cocked with the lighter setting, and muzzle pointed down, which I believes makes a difference for some reason. Then I would secure the screw in its new setting with a dab of nail polish. Whatever color you have on hand. (no pun intended) :)

The X-Mark Pro triggers I have worked on, solvents wouldn't touch the epoxy. Earlier triggers, the "bad" ones, are a little less tamper proof.

If the trigger is position sensitive, it needs more pre-load on the weight of pull spring.

Thanks guys, going to give acetone a try first, ran home at lunch and put it in a container, seemed to be the easiest to give a shot at.

Also, the trigger seems a little odd, the weight screw is right next to the bolt release instead of on the front of the trigger body, is this something new Remington is doing?

No need to soak the complete trigger group in acetone, unless it is in dire need of a thorough cleaning.
Acetone on a Q tip will suffice to remove the OEM clear finger nail polish.

Post 2006/ X Mark/X Mark Pro trigger groups find themselves under a 4Lb hammer to get them out of circulation(once in my hands).

A 40X repeater trigger group pull weight screw will be fwd/under the bolt release.

Thanks, that must be what this is then, I need to order another adjustment screw for it, I broke it trying to get it to budge.

Yeah, I know.

I shoot benchrest, have Jewells in everything else, just trying to do this gun on the cheap, it's a little short barrel factory shop job I got at a really good price. I mainly plan on just using it for hunting, the trigger is pretty good as stands, just wanted it a wee bit lighter.
