Rem 700 bolt shroud

A little help please. Once the firing pin assembly is removed from the bolt and the shroud pin is removed, how is the bolt shroud separated from the firing pin and spring ?
Thanks for the help.

The shroud, bolt plug & firing pin head) is just a slip fit onto the end of the firing pin so once the pin is removed it will come off. IN THEORY. In actual practice they usually will stick and come off only when tapped or otherwise coaxed off. And then they will come off with a fury. probably right through your living room picture window or wherever else they will be pointed. So be careful. They are under heavy spring tension. There are tools made specifically for holding the spring under tension and then letting it out slowly but it can be done without the tool if you analyze what will happen when it breaks loose and take the proper precautions. Putting them back together has it's own set of problems so maybe you'd be better off with the proper tool if you've never done it before. Good Luck
