Rem 700 bolt, need help finding one.

hello gunamonth
used is ok but prefer if the lugs are untouched, but a new one is good too.I would like to have the complete bolt, handle and all. This is for a switch barrel project I am tossing around.

I'm pretty sure none of the Kiff bolts come with the handle installed. A handle will need to be tig welded or silver soldered in place. They are probably the best bolt you can get for your remington since it can be ordered in whatever diameter you want. You can get it to fit .001 under the raceway in your reciever for a tight fit. The other option is to find a bolt on ebay, they come up for auction pretty frequently) or on the classifieds on one of the message boards. Most of the bolts you can get on ebay get run up way too high, the other day one went for about $190). When its all said and done, the Kiff bolt may cost a little more but you'll have a far supeirior bolt.

I'd hold out for a used one. You're gonna have to have it "fitted" by a smith anyway and while he's at it, it's no problem to true up the lugs and bolt face.

I've never found that a "tight" fitting bolt produced any measurable increase in accuracy unless the original was simply slopping around in the action...which is mostly found on Mausers and the like.

I usually just find a used complete rifle, here they can be had for $300 or so) strip it and sell the parts on ebay. I usually end up with maybe $150-$200 in the complete action....

I dont know where your from, but here in DFW Academy is getting rid of all of their ADL synthetics. They can be had for $289 +tax, I picked another one up the other day just cause they are cheap. But the one I just dropped off at the smith for my 284 project I have right at $200 in it after selling the barrel, sights, stock. Which if you have a choice between a youth or regular stock always get the youth since they go for better money on theBay. My last regular stock went for $35 where the youth stock I sold the other day went for $65, Most of them have plastic sights but the youth models have metal sight sets which seem to go from 15-20 bucks. Then heck sell the action which the last boltless action I seen on GB went for $150 so your really really low on the bolt as far as cash goes.
