REM 700/40X Trigger Adjustment Instructions

TIMO

Still working on it???
Silver $$ Contributor
Just got this factory NOS Remington 700/40X trigger in the mail today. Going to use it as a back for one of my club level all purpose Remington center fire rifles. Did an initial trigger pull test and on my scale it is a consistent 1.75 lbs release. What is the proper way to adjust this trigger to reduce the pull weight some and still keep it safe. This trigger does not have a safety as it will only be used at the range for informal matches.

See attached pics of actual trigger for reference.

Thanks,
Tim

Does not look like a Remington factory trigger to me. Looks like a Shilen standard trigger if the pull weight is 1.75 lbs. Lower front screw adjusts the trigger pull. Upper front screw adjusts the trigger over travel and the rear screw adjusts the sear engagement. I would suggest you only play with the trigger pull adjustment screw.

Could be, good info. Where I order it from didn’t mention anything about Shilen. As a backup trigger it will be good.
Thanks

It will make a good back up trigger for my all purpose club rifle if needed, I think it is worth the $68.00.

Tim, The Shilens are very good triggers. In my opinion better and more desirable than Remington factory triggers with the exception of the Rem. 2 oz. triggers. I bought two just like yours from I believe the same seller. Good deal !

Yes, it probably is the same place. I think the price is right for them considering other triggers are selling for a lot more $$.
