Rem 700 .308 base and rings?

Hi,

New to the forum.
I have a Remington 700 VSF in .308 that I would like to shoot out to 1,000 yards.
I have a 20x Super Sniper scope that I want to mount on it.
Will I need an elevated scope base?
Should I go with a single piece base?
What height rings will work best for the 42mm objective?

Thanks,
Oliver

You don't NEED a 20MOA base, but it never hurts when you want to shoot 1000yds.

Rem 700 with base and rings from Glen Seekins. Very solid setup. Very well made.

While about 50% more expensive, you would be very well-off using badger ordnance bases and rings as well. I like knowing that the base and ring combo can take wayyy more than what I can dish out (a-la US Marine standards).

That said, I've used Seekins bases/rings and they are very nicely machined and very solid compared to the usual "tactical" aluminum rings.

I shoot a 20 moa base and tps medium rings with a 50mm obj Leupold 4.5-14 mark 4 scope. No a 20 moa base isn't necessary but it helps use less moa in the scope body putting less stress on it towed the max elevation setting. Not sure that matters. I can get past 1000 very easy. I have Nightforce bases and rings on a couple other guns but they are no more solid than the tps rings and warne/millet steel base. More money for sure. I get very good accuracy and dependability with all the setups I shoot.
