Rem 700 223 bolt Ext groove undersized

Thanks I will reach out to him.

I would be most interested in knowing what you find. I also have a Remington that "seem" to suffer the same issue. Mine isn't as bad as yours, but it is certainly different than any other 223 BF I have ever used. And mine is worse with Hornady brass.

I guess we can assume that this bolt was never used in a rifle that was fired.?? How much would you need to turn the case rim down to fit? .012 x 2 =.024?? Or maybe less?

I never used the bolt until a few weeks ago I got it a while back cant remember where. No way that it could have been serviceable without doing substantial damage to the case rims.I guess it would be theoretically possible to turn the brass but that is not an option for me

This thread makes me wonder if my 700 223 had a similar problem. When I first bought it the bolt was kinda tough to close on a shell. Smith took less than a min with a dremel "cleaning " up the extractor and it's been 100%. Perhaps you've found out the why.
