Rem. 221FB Build Help

I would like to build a 221 FB with a Remington action that is accurate (.5" or better). I need an action with the correct bolt face that will feed and eject (700-7-600-40-100?). I also need info on good triggers.

I have a 221FB built on a Stiller Predator action 223 boltface, Kreiger 12 twist Remington contour in a Manners stock and Jewel trigger. It is really accurate with several bullets but is crazy accurate with 60gr. Berger varmint bullets, 16.5 grains of IMR4198 and CCI BR-4 primers. I also use Norma brass.

Never tried it but rumor is that you need a Remington 700 or 7 that was originally a Fireball, because they have the ejector in a different spot than all other actions in order to reliably eject the tiny little case.

I built my 20 Vartarg (221 Fireball parent) on a Rimrock BR. Can't recommend Jim Borden highly enough if that price point is an option.

221 and all the wildcats based on it appear to be very easy going to load for and "inherently" accurate without much work.

Remington 700 with 223 bolt face is all you need. I have both a 221 fireball and 17 Mach IV off of 700 action. No issues since 2006 when they were both built.

I shoot all my 20 VT and 20SCC single shot on 700 actions but I dont see why a 223 follower wont work the fireball case is very similar in dia. as a 223 I make all my 20VT and SCC cases from 223 LC brass.
If you want a repeater and are worried about the proper extraction get a sako extractor installed in a 223 bolt

I plan on building a left bolt left port 221 fireball or 20 vartarg in the next 12 months. I have also read many people have problem with feeding from certain magazines and ejection problems with Remington that weren’t originally 221 fireball or 17 fireball.
I called kelby’s actions and they said there action would work. So I was planning on using a kelby.
Curious what other people have built or converted.

I have a 221 fireball and a 20 Vartarg (Same parent Case) built on a Sako AI. I'm putting parts together to build another 221 on the Kelbly Atlas with the TG ejector. If you go that route let me know what you think of the Atlas.

I had an lvsf 221 remington that would not feed for anything. Shot well and I put a sled in it single shot.

The cz feeds well and has good magazines

The last two i built are on ruger m77mk2 receivers. Use the controlled round feed they are smooth and shoot very well. Both guns are reliably 1/2 guns.

Is your CZ a factory barrel?

Not factory, it is a kreiger. 1-12 twist. An old stock barrel I bought at a garage sale.
