Reloading the 308 Ga Percision crusader

Is anyone reloading for this rifle. I plan on using Federal match cases since I have alot of them and the serria 168 bthp.
This rifle has a 22 inch Bartlin # 7 barrel 1-11 twist and the Templer action. I would appericate any help

With Federal cases, Do Not Start That Hot!!!!!

43.5 is the Sierra listed MAX load for those cases. Sierra's starting load is 38.7 grains of Varget.

Do yourself a big favor, look at the Sierra load manual section available available on the cartridge guide page for 308 Win.

Take this advice to heart from a very experienced 308 reloader - start low, work up. It will only cost you 10 bullets, but could save you a really bad experience.

Best of luck.

Just to add another example. The lot of Varget that I'm using right now is giving me the same vel. as others with 1 to 1.2 gr less powder. Varget is bad to vary from lot to lot. So it is best to cut any load at least 10% and work up to any load that some tells you!

Blc-2 is a good powder and h335 I believe.I have used blc-2 for many years and get great accuracy with it.

I'll second the H4895 and 155's. I'm running Amaxes at a lower node (2810) and getting excellent results. Unfortunately, they won't make 1k at that speed, but they hammer at 600.

Every .308 shooter/loader should read this article from the 6mmBR.com home page:

There's a lot of great information in there, from members of this site.

I have had great results with IMR4895 and H4895. Ladder test them puppies for optimal powder charge. Mine ended up at 43grs. 168 Hornady Amax. vertical was zero around 43-43.5 at 600 so I stayed with the 43. Like old boy said it's only 10 bullets or less to to run the test.

So, are all of you guys that responded actually shooting the Crusader? I have three GA Precision rifles and like them all. I have had good results with 150 SMK, 168 SMK, and 175 SMK in my 308.

GAP also uses other barrels. My Crusader has a Bartlein 5R stainless barrel in 1x11.25 twist. Shoots 168SMK and 175 SMK best.

My .308 loves 175 SMK's, moly coated with 43.5 grains of Varget seated .020 off the lands. Lapua brass trimmed to 2.005. annealed after every reload... oh yeah I almost forgot about turning the necks... Absolute tack driver out to 1K. What ever load you choose to go with, ALWAYS work up in your own rife first. What my rifle loves, yours may not tolerate. Don't change more then one component at a time when developing your loads. Good luck!

Reloading the 308 Ga Precision crusader

Guess I'm old school with 4064! Its been my go to powder for the 150-168 grain bullets with the 155 and 168 A-Max my favorites. Just my humble opinion.

Well I found my load for my GAP Crusader. RL 15 44.5 grains,
Sierra 168 BTHP, Winchester primers, Federal brass, 2.800 oal Shoots .27to.42 moa at 300 yards Depending on the wind

I know the cost is high but forget to give Berger bullets a try. I was getting good results in my FN SPR with Sierra Match King bullets 4064, R-15 and Varget. I felt like the rifle had more to offer and started testing the 168 VLD. I'll never look back not even once. Now I just run Varget because there is really no need to change or tweak. Oh BTW you don't have to jam the VLDs with all rifles.
