I really think the price increase has more to do with that it is a step above a strain gauge type. No to less drifting.GULP -- Those extra digits on the right side of the decimal don't come cheapjd

I don't seem to have drifting issues with mine when room temperature is stable.
Bench/slab and air temperature can be different and be a cause of drift.
I don't leave mine constantly ON. One hour seems to be more than long enough to stabilize temperature inside the scale as it uses less power than a Mag Balance scale. It will also run off batteries for 70 hours.
MNM Scales has the EJ54-D2 for $354, free shipping, but charges TAX.
Their website states they may even be willing to "Deal"

This scale is made in Japan and price might be different if it comes across our northern border.
