Reloading pistol for self-defense

So why are people continuing to do what I ask them not to do and speculate on what attorneys will do ?

Well, it is probably the important question you should consider.
If you live or spend time in the DRC maybe not.

Do you train with factory ammo, or bulk ball ammo? Or do you reload to factory specs and train with that? How many rounds per year?
I reload all my practice ammo, similar weight and speed but cheaper bullets.

I only shoot about 500 pistol rounds a year now.
Far less than I used to.
Loaded up this year’s pistol ammunition last week

I’ve carried the same pistol for 20 years.

Thats a great reason for its own separate thread, to fully discuss that issue, and not commingle the technical reloading questions I asked, with those political and jurisprudence issues ... which probably don't belong in the reloading forum.

Especially when the speculation on the legal matters of living and spending time in the DRC is being done by a bunch of non-lawyers. :) I dont live in that awful place.

I Truly hope y'all find those answers but ask that you do so elsewhere. Please. :) and I promise not to ask about the price of tea in China in any of your threads about reloading. :)

Excellent. Seems like a great plan.

All good questions that deserve solid answers.

In reality, if I got 2 or more thugs gunning at me at one time, Im prolly dead unless I got a machine gun, which doesnt conceal well. Hopefully they'll be shooting sideways, gangsta style, and will have a bigger accuracy problem than me.

Put it this way... Im OBVIOUSLY gonna test my handloads and if accuracy is sub standard, reject them. If warranted by circumstance, I'll shoot at 50 yds plus. But theres tons of data saying the vast majoity of self defense shooting is w/i 3 yards. And since most self defense shooting happen in poor lighting, much beyond 15 yards is highly problematic.

ANYWAY ... this thread is not about the distance of self-defense shooting, but the best load to be shooting at fairly close up, where the vast majority of SD shootings occur.

In an urban environment yes. We practice on 5" balloons at 50 and 100 yards. It is great training. And you might be surprised how accurate you can be. And it improves your shooting up close. Don't think that if there is more than one person you are dead. If you think that way, you are already a victim.

Your practice technique is interesting.... I might just try that. The thought that multiple attackers probably will mean my death isn't being a victim, it's being a realist. :) Im ok with death. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue. :) And I would suggest that such a mindset would actually make somebody better at self-defense and defense of others. The fear of dying is a prison all by itself. Trust me I want to live but I'm not afraid to die.
