You need to get two a 223 for playing and learning to shoot with low recoil. And a 308 for hunting. Both are made with a youth stock . That doesn't mean you must still shorten the stock . Keep woman and children away from recoil . Larry
I don't care who makes the gun. Just get one that fits . Recoil should be considered also .Take them to the store and let them choose. I like the tikka (have enough Salvages). But Savage does make a Lady Hunter rifle in 243win 6.5 Creedmoor and 7mm08. It's not a bad looking rifle.
The Savage Lady Hunter is made to fit Lady's better, cause their bone structure is different than ours.
But if she didnt like it, that would mean another gun in my cabinet , right?Yep, I've made that mistake a couple of times.![]()
The 240 Weatherby will have twice the recoil energy of the 243 Win.
243 Win. (100 at 2960) 8.8 lbs/ft recoil energy
.240 Wby. Mag. (100 at 3406) 17.9 lbs/ft recoil energy

I would think for your daughter the 243 would be better unless she is an experienced shooter used to the recoil.
As comparison to the .30-06
.30-06 Spfd. (150 at 2910) 17.6 lbs/ft recoil energy
I'm calling"B.S." on the recoil numbers listed on that site. Double the recoil of a 243 Winchester? A 240 Weatherby has more recoil than a 257 Weatherby? More recoil than a 6.5X284? More than a 270 Winchester? How does a lighter bullet in front of a lower powder charge produce more recoil? Something smells there.
