reloading at the range press?

I think that depends on what is available to clamp your press to at the range you go to. Do you take a folding table to the range or are there tables or benches already available? In either case you have to take an appropriate size "C" Clamp and attach them to the table or bench. At the range in Phoenix they have picnic table style benches(concrete) that incorporate a solid steel edge, most presses can be clamped to this edge. Some shooters have folding tables with a 3/4" top and they clamp their press too that top.
there are other methods that would also work, Sinclair sells a wooden device that allows you to mount the press then use a "C"clamp to attach it to the bench. They charge $75.00 for it and I think anyone with a little bit of woodworking experience could build it for a lot less. Probably many more but these are the most frequent metods that I have observed.

Other issues are the fit of your fired case to the die, (More sizing takes more effort.) lubrication of the brass, and the leverage system that the press uses. Simple presses like the old RCBS JR take more handle effort and transfer more force to the bench during sizing. Those that work like the Rockchucker take less effort, and I believe that a custom die that barely moved the case, in a Forster Co-ax took the least effort of any setup that I have tried. Unfortunately the latter is bigger and heavier than I want to tote to the range on a regular basis. I find the built-in clamps of my Harrell's presses, and their Rockchucker style leverage systems to be the best for range use. If you want to save some money, or need a different press for some other reason, or simply don't want to buy another press for infrequent trips to the range, I suggest that you use countersunk T nuts to mount a press to a piece of plywood that is about 1' square and secure it to a sturdy bench with a pair of c clamps. With a less sturdy bench, a 2x (1.5" thick) board that spans the entire width of the bench, with a clamp on bot sides of the press and one on the opposite side of the bench will stiffen things up quite a bit.
