reloader 10x

i tried some 80 gr nosler in a 6mm br 28-30 grains and it showed excessive pressure, i had trouble opening the action. i am using a encore Craig

My experience with 10x has been that it has a burn rate about like 322 or 133. In my 22br 31.5 grains with a 52 grain bullet will get you a sticky bolt, I bet you are pretty hot with a 30 gr. load with a 80gr bullet. It's hard to find good data on 10x, but I really do like it, I get good groups and its pretty clean. It's just alot hotter than the burn rates show!

If you loaded 30.0gr/RL10 with a 80gr NBT in a Encore your lucky it didn't blow it up in your face, Quick Load shows that equates to 68,374 psi at a oal of 2.270,if your oal is shorter your pressure is even higher)that close to 10,000 over P-Max.

Please be careful out there you only have two eyes.

Alliant RL-10x is fabulous and beyond peer in .223 Remington Application twixt 36 and 60 grain bullet weights. 23.2 grains with the heavier 60 grain fair is MAXIMUM desired pressure and potent velocity. 55 Grainers can tolerate 25.0 grains at MAXIMUM. 36 grain Barnes Varmint Grenades cruise nicely at a MAXIMUM 26.2 grains of 10x with CCI 250 SRM primers to produce 3965 fps prowess. Asking for more? Advance to .243 Winchester heavy firepower and triple the recoil. cliffy

I don't advise Alliant Reloder 10x to be used in any 6mm application. It is a superior .223 Remington powder in correct applications. Hodgdon H4350 is the fastest-burning powder suited to .243 application. I also LIKE Alliant Reloder 22 for for 100 grain plus grain bullets in .243 application for true hunting loads. I've been less than enthusiastic by Alliant Reloder 19 in MOST applications attempted. Alliant Reloder 25 is far too slow-burning for any 6mm applications to date. cliffy

clem81,

10X is a little fast for a 6BR with light bullets, and way too fsat for heaver bullets.

I shoot N135 for 80gr and lighter bullets.

30 grains RL10-X is my load for the 65 V-max and it's a bit warm

with an 80 I think you are pushing things a bit
