Reliable feeding of 6mm BR

Please pardon me while I ask a question that has to have been asked many times before.

Do 6mm BR rounds feed reliably from a magazine with floorplate? I do not want a magazine that protrudes below the bottom of the stock.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there was a feed issue because of the shape of the round. But I am not sure what I read was for the 6mm BR.

I am having another bolt action custom rifle made, this time for hunting coyotes and other small critters. I would prefer to stick with the 6mm BR round since my target rifle is that caliber and I like it. If the 6mm BR won't feed reliably, I will go with a .243 or 243AI instead.

Thank you in advance for your comments.

Welcome to the Forum...!

Good question Gene, but one that is asked often (I have asked it too). And at this point, is there a 100% positive answer to your question? Not for me yet. There are some that have had sucess with the mods and others that have not. Best advice I can give you is to do a "search" here on the board and you find the data that will help you make your decision.

Check out Mike Bryant's gunsmithing site. It shows how to modify the magazine box & follower for good BR feeding.
