Reduced target questions

Joe C

Student of the 1911.
Hello,

I was wondering what targets you all use for practicing F Class at a reduced distance of 100 yards to simulate 600-1000 yard shooting? And where would I get them either by purchasing or downloading them in PDF format? I was looking at the ones the NSSF has up but wasn't sure if they were correct.

Thanks much!

I don't think there is one for 100 its all based on 1 min 10 ring 1/2 min x you might have to make your own up and run copies. I'm told they are using 22 call on bipod at that range to simulate long range practice. Ryan cokerham just started some matches in Columbia,Mo.

Joe,

Do a shout out to member "Sleepy Gator", I know he has done just target centers (9/10/X) that I use & he should be able to hook you up. Heck of nice guy and computer extroidinaire..

On the other hand "Google" reduced F-class targets and there will be links, I have seen em but cant recall off the top of my head which sites they are.

Joe,
here is the page many High Power shooters use to generate targets for 50 and 100 yards:

http://www.ray-vin.com/frtech.htm

if the 50 yard targets are too easy just move them to 100 and have at it!

Here is a 100 yard practice target. As lmmike posted, there is no official 100 yard target. I scaled the 300 yard target down with a small fudge factor for short distance (as does the MR-63FC). Black is the scoring ring. I print on a laser printer using 67 pound, ivory cover stock. You must use a printer that has a manual feed tray and allows straight feed out the back because of the paper weight. It approximates heavy target paper and leaves a clean mark for scoring. Office Depot carries it as Wausau Exact Vellum Bristol Cover Stock. When printing, set the printing parameters to 1:1 to preserve the size. [br]
The sizes are:
X ring: Ø.47"
10 ring: Ø.975"
9 ring: Ø1.975"
8 ring: Ø2.975" [br]

Although the targets go out to the "8" ring, you should not be using anything past the "10". ;)

At MSSA we have the TQ-3/5, A12 50 yard small bore 5 bulls at the clubhouse for about 50 cents each... The Bull is .39" and the 10 is .89" and they go out 1" for the rest. This works out OK, but the 308 bullets put relatively holes at that range so we might want it a bit smaller for practice.

Nice, that's a great target sheet...

PM me your address and ill send ya a couple that we use, they have 1/2 inch x ring and 1 moa ten ring.

No F-Class target has a ten ring as large as 1 MOA. The 300 yard reduced range MR-63FC has a .907 MOA ten ring.

Steve,

A quick look at the NRA rule book shows that the 1000, 600, and 500 yard targets all have 1 MOA ten rings.

No, they are all smaller than 1 MOA. 1 MOA is approximately 10.48" at 1000 yards, 6.29" at 600 yards and 5.24" at 500 yards. If you are shooting at reduced distances, it should be even smaller to account for reduced wind effects.

Steve, those are some nice reduced targets for 100 yards. As long as I've been shooting F-Class which has only been since 07, I was under the impression that the target was under 1moa.

I was replying as you were Steve.

Great info here guys! Thanks for all the great targets. And Steve, I took the ones you sent me out to the range the other day and I'm proud to say I didn't shoot a single 7! ;D

OMG I never said the ones we use were approved or anything of the such, just offering a target we shoot at for fun at 100 yards.

But a reduced range, F-Class target is what Joe requested in his original post. [br]
BTW, WTF is with "OMG"? Do you text a lot with 17 year old girls? ;)
