Redding (non-competition micrometer) seating die setup. First time use.

It must be me, but every video or thread I watch or read leaves me more confused than when I started. There seems to be four adjustments: the die body, the vertical hash marks, the horizonal hash marks and the allen screw on top the uppermost knurled knob (for zero?.)

I need a "kiss" explanation or video as to initial setup. A video preferably. The Redding. Premium 68443 Deluxe Die Set, directions are useless to me when it comes to the seating micrometer.

Don't be afraid to risk, embarrassing me in that that would take a lot.

I assume you are referencing the seating die. Let’s see if we can make this easier.

1. Remove the micrometer top.
2. With the ram in the up position, screw the die body deep enough into the press so that it almost touches the shellholder. Slightly lock down with lock ring.
3. Lower ram, insert a case and bullet ready to be seated.
4. Raise ram to top, open micrometer so that more of vertical lines are showing. Install micrometer onto die.
5. With ram still at top, gradually turn micrometer clockwise, lowering the adjustment until you feel it snug against the bullet.
6. Lower ram. Turn micrometer in small increments deeper between each pull of the handle to get to your desired depth.

If the micrometer bottoms out the die body needs to be lowered and relocked down with lock ring. The horizontal lines are for reference. The allen screw is to add tension to the micrometer so it does not creep when you are seating a bunch of bullets repeatedly.

Hope this helps!
