Redding big boss , primers on the floor

IF YOU , have a Redding Big Boss II and have spent primers on your floor instead of in the collection tube , here's the fix . A piece of plastic straw 1 3/4" long & 7/16" dia. This will not stop you from using the priming arm cup , you just pull the tube out with needle nose plyers when needed . I got the straws in a thick shake , they are very flexible and fit snuggly in the ram , just push in far enough so you can get your shell holder back in .

thats a good idea- on my redding presses i have trouble with the ram hole plugging with primers. i leave the tube off and it works better

Great solution! I had resigned myself to flinging about 10% of my primers to the floor. I don't prime on the press, so I will now put in a straw and leave it there. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. Thanks!!

I just stick the section of MacDonalds straw in the bottom of the shell holder. Sometimes I have to wrap a little frog tape if it's too loose.

But yeah! I can't believe all the years I decapped before figgering this out!

I did this fix about 2 years ago and I only use this press to decap the brass with , I have not had a single primer on the floor , none .

Do the same in the rockchuckers that have a catch tray and you'll get fewer spent primers bouncing out.
Yep who ever designed the new rockchucker should be well yeah .
It's a crap press compared to the older one and as for the primer tray what a %@$^&><//:@_#^#^#

What I did on my Lee CC was use a piece of gray pipe insulation cut slightly larger than the primer arm slot and pushed in to fit.. Works great.

Hmm, it seems to me a piece of heat shrink would work too.
I don't recall any issues with my T-7, but I haven't loaded anything on it lately, but I have done some depriming.

There are a few guys selling "3-D printed" primer collectors for the Redding presses on EBAY for about $15.00. I looked over a photo and went into the garage and made one out of a wood scrap, with a rare-earth magnet set into the bottom to attach it to the press base.

A simple fix and costs nothing… AAANNND “The Price is Right” :)
I use a hand de-primer {Harvey} these days and a TV tray as I clean {wet SS pins} and anneal @ time and just want the primers out quickly.
Previously used my Co-Ax with the die de-capping rod run down so as not to size the case, the press has a drop tube that is attached to the bottom of the lower jaw assembly and they fall into a jar at the other end of the drop tube…
When full {about 500 pcs} just unscrew the jar from the attached lid and dump.
A 50 year old idea that is still fresh today… The Bonanza/Foster Co-Ax press.

I need to get a hand de-capper and leave em' at the range.
Watching Jeremiah Keefe between relay's, He patch's out his
rifle, then de-caps the brass he shot in that relay and cleans
the pockets, and still has time to bullsh_t. He's got it down to
a science.......Me ?? I have been de-capping as of late with a
newer RC Supreme. Primers come out the back of the ram into
a plastic chute. Very seldom do I loose a primer.

I have the issue on the Big Boss2 and my Forster CoAx spent primer tube.
i dont use my coax for decapping but i use a redding T7 for it and it has this issue. as i posted i took the tube off and that helps but doesnt eliminate it. for now i put a 5 gallon bucket under it that catches most of them.
