Redding 6BR FL bushing die question

I tried using a Redding bushing die and I think the bushing is a bit short. The neck ended up with a flared mouth opening. Seems like the edge of the case mouth ended up in the chamfered internal edge of the bushing. I have the numbers downward and the bushing has an internal chamfer/bevel on both sides. What am I doing wrong?

What was the case neck OD before sizing and the bushing ID? I believe Redding recommends not more than a .004” difference.

The necks were 0.271 after firing and the bushing I used was 0.267 so I must have been at the edge?

Redding recommends selecting a bushing based on 'loaded round neck diameter'...but that can easily be just a starting point for testing with other sizes.

Some pics and description of your equipment/components/process might help.

If you have access to an intermediate size bushing (.269”) try performing the sizing operation in two steps.

No photo since I already fixed the neck by annealing and putting it though a full length die. Thinking about this, I might have pick the wrong bushing. I might have grabbed the 0.247 bushing instead of the 0.267.

No worries, learn and move on, we all do! Expanding the necks back to .267” OD could be an interesting task...
