Red LED hunting light reccomendations?

Does anyone have experience with red LED hunting lights? Which ones to consider, which ones not to consider?

I'm getting dizzy reading all the promotional stuff on the internet...they all say they are "the best!"...

I know these are probably frowned upon being they are fresh out of China, but I've got two of these:

Cabelas is selling the identical one here for $119:

The Chinese one doesn't come with the scope mount or the remote switch, but can be purchased on the Lightmalls website for next to nothing. A 1" scope ring will work to mount the light to a rail. That's what I've done.

Check out boondock outdoors they won't steer you wrong. You can spend 50.00 -- 500.00 but you may not need the best or brightest. I have been using the vrl-1 for a scan light and the wicked 400 for my kill light.

Are you wanting red specifically for a constant on use, or are you wanting to use it as a spotting light? If your just looking for something to flip on as a spotting light look at the Streamlight TLR 1, Its marketed as a weapons light, made to mount to pic rail, but will illuminate out to 200 yards. mine travels back and forth between my HD shotgun, with a pressure switch. To my coyote hunting AR platform. Uses 2 CR123 batteries. Im not certain but i think you may be able to get red filters for it. I know their available for other Streamlight products.

Yes, I am planning on using it constantly on, scanning then clip onto gun and go bang. I'm mostly wanting to try a light, because I've never used one. Waiting for full moon nights makes for a short season.
