Recommendations for Tweezers for precision charges

Panama Evans

PAYING IT FORWARD EXPECTING NOTHING IN RETURN
I just received a my weigh 250 for Christmas and the tweezers that came with it aren't what I would call quality. So I'm looking for help from members here who have found what kind best work.
I load using varget, and yes the scale is accurate to .00. I know tweezers can be purchased from $2-7, but the options are endless, lol
Standard tweezers for the human body, electronics, jeweler's, and crafts. Stainless, plastic, anti static, pvc coated tips, locking, ceramic coated tip, and so on.
Yes tons of options, that I could go on and on, but as my sweetie who is visually impaired, will help with powder charges for her loads, I'm hoping to find a pair that are easy to use, and won't throw kernels all over.
Many thanks for any and all help, not to mention a happy new year to all.

Do a search for 'AA tweezers'. I found a pair (General tool brand) at a local Ace/True Value hardware store; otherwise Amazon and other places on the 'Net can provide.

Used to use a seed planter tool - designed for picking up one or two tiny seeds at a time, for planting or other purposes (apparently some seeds are *really* expensive...). Worked pretty well, but the AA tweezers are way faster.

You can get to 1 gn. of powder with a good powder tickler, and they are much faster to use. I`ve never seen the use for tweezers in over 50 years of loading.

Same here. I've never even heard of using tweezers. A trickler works so well.

Could you put up a couple of targets showing 1 gr. difference in charge wt ? Anybody ?

I find a 4 inch hemostat to be more useful than tweezers. I also use one for handling primers and hot cases while annealing.

Careful though. Squeezing the powder granuale may compress the chemical components and thereby slowing its ignition progression which might throw the inter-granuale ignition sequence out of balance causing the bullet to enter the lands askew. ;)

Thanks for the info. Just like learning each process of basic shooting to precision competition shooting there is still so much to learn lol.

I have a Lyman Gen 5 and it is capable of +\- .02-.06 of a charge but even my rcbs tricker has a hard time dropping individual grains consistently.
I'm a person who likes to varify all the information out there to increase accuracy. So yes I'm checking to see if varifying each load to exactly the same ammount for a powder charge to .00 will change my ES.
So far with my forester die honed to 2 thousandths neck tension, my DIY annealer, lapua cases all adding up to my best 2.5" groups at 600yrds is nice. I want better.
Now to see as I crony each round I can add data to see if going to this degree of accuracy is worth the time.
I have seen my volocities change to equal a difference in my groups, hence the reason to win the battle of thousandths of an inch for those elusive match wins.

My most improvement comes from honing inside and outside of my necks to 50 millionths. I'm working on a device to segregate powder granules to a specific size.
Anything to increase accuracy.
That's one I've not heard of. Honing the neck???
I know the effect neck tension plays on accuracy, so I'll look into that one for sure.
Now segregating the kernels by size. I can see the bennefit and I'd be interested to see data on how this helps

Methinks he pulls your leg. Seriously, I doubt if one can see the effect of one kernel of Varget more or less. If my scale was not capable of registering the difference, I wouldn't mess with it. However, since it can and I really don't know how many kernels would cause a discernible difference, I weigh and correct the load to the individual kernel. It can't hurt and it makes me feel better.
