After eight long months I finally got the call this morning that my 6.5-284 was finally in. I had McGowen Barrels put together an Italian Mauser style action with a 24" Douglas #2 contour. They then shipped it to Mcmillian for an edge technology composite stock. This evening I will finally get the chance to mount a Ziess Conquest 4.5-14x50 with a rapid Z varmint reticle.
Now, the question is what weight bullet seems to perform best in the 6.5? I would like to pick a weight with a high BC that can be used for white tails and possibly varmints. From what I've read, there seems to be a preference for the 140's, for long range accuracy. Barnes offers a 127 grain designed for long range shooting but I don't know of anyone who's had any experience with it. I'm open to any and all suggestions.
Thanks.
