Recommend me a rest setup

What front rest and rear bag would you guys recommend for this stock. It is a KMW Sentinel. I've been just using a bipod with a squeeze bag in the rear. That is fine for testing my skills, but looking for something better to use in load development.

Probably no more than 5 or 600.00. Not really thought about that. Whatever it takes I guess to get something right for this stock to test loads.

If you are looking for a rest STRICTLY for load development, then I'd advise you to take a look at Caldwell's "The Rock" rest or the Caldwell BR Rest and bags. You are talking under $200 and to me, spending $500 - $600 for a "load development" rest is wasting good money. Now if you want to get up into that money category and want a quality Benchrest style rest (w/windage tops), email me and I can provide you with a maker of custom rests that is within your stated ballpark range.

Thanks. The rock looks like it would work fine for my purpose. It is only for load development. What rear rest do you think would work good for this stock? It's not really made for one so I think it'll take something pretty high.

I would buy a hart benchrest model for under 300.00,beyond far superior to the rock which has plastic parts on it and wobbles k loose sometimes. Dont waste your money, call bobby hart in PA and get a decent one for life and use a protektor bag in the rear.

And get some heavy sand ( it is either chromite or zircon ) and pack your rear bag, it made a big difference for me.

Look at one of the new Grizzly Bald Eagle rests in cast iron. They are inexpensive and work very well. Then get a Bald Eagle or Edgewood rear bag and you are in the Open Class rest business!

You can't go wrong with a Protektor bag. If you go that route, buy it directly from Protektor. They'll fill it with heavy sand for about $15 extra which, unless you have a local supplier--I don't--is about the cost of the heavy sand to fill it yourself. Protektor has the best prices on their bags that I could find. http://protektormodel.com/

Of course, any sand will do, but the difference in weight between ordinary sandbox sand & heavy sand is considerable. And filling a bag yourself is a real p.i.t.a. if you don't have a special funnel designed for the purpose.
