Front rest

What is the impact on group size if the elevation adjustment isn't locked down?

The reason I ask is I'm using an old Protektor front rest. To change elevation you have to loosen both a set screw on the cradle and the lock ring on the threaded rod. Because the range doesn't have usable benches, I'm having to shoot from prone. I'm using a rear squeeze bag with the front rest. The rifle's butt settles into the squeeze bag during recoil => I need to make elevation adjustments. with the front rest to be able to maintain a solid rest in the rear.

Thanks

I have seen shooters that have a front sling attachment on the bottom of the stock. They seem to always forget to push the gun forward on the front rest so recoil does not let the attachment slide back over the front rest.

You want NO wiggle in the front or rear rests.

Don't know how many times I have mentioned it to shooter at the 600 yd range.
