For what you're wanting to do, the accuracy map is well drawn, proven and reliable. The reason I am interested in SMK 77 and 80 grain is because I just came into 2500 of them from a friend that retired from shooting because of vision issues. Also some Berger 80.5 fullbore and 73 gr 75 gr and 77 gr

The 52-ish class bullets will beat the rainbow-trajectory heavy 'lobbers' like rented mules every day of the week and twice on Sunday in the venue that you describe. At 300 yds, there's no B.C. or wind deflection gains that give you 50% of what pure accuracy does. And that starts with a supremely accurate bullet. A 12 or 13 twist will give you a good safety net for stability over the default 14 twist with no loss of practical 'on target' accuracy. The number of truly great 22 bullets available in that weight area is staggering....BIB's, Bergers, and many more. More good news is that true BR quality .224 bullets are a bargain compared to the big box bullet stuff.
Add a few wind flags (if you don't already have them) and get set to have some fun.

Good shootin' -Al
