Recoil lug ?

On the Sako and CZ rim fires, the recoil lug just sits down in a slot in the stock under the tang of the action. If this isn't in contact with the action , how does it do anything to manage the recoil of the rifle? Should it be?

I Glass BEDDED, my after market, "recoil Lug" from Little Crow Gunworks and 1.5 to 2 inches of the barrels "Shank" portion ( Free Floated, the rest of bbl. ) of my new Green Mtn SS 20" Sporter barrel, on my 10/22 Ruger AKA ,.. "the Sage Rat Slayer" and WOW ! Repeatable accuracy with, ALL the loads, I've used with, SK Std Plus and Wolf ME being, the best !
NOPE I don't / WON'T shoot, the $20- $25.00 a Box stuff ! IF, I NEED more distance,.. I bring out my .22-250 !

If I understand the OP correctly, he's talking about a "lug" that just sits under the rear tang of the action. It's not attached to anything. It just falls out when you remove the barreled action from the stock. Not sure there is any way to bed it so that it actually functions like a recoil lug.

I went back and, Re-read post,.. LOL !
NOT, a real "Recoil Lug",. IMO and,.. Sounds pretty much,.. USELESS !
Sorry for, the MIS Understanding !

I was thinking when I didn't get a reply that no one know what I was talking about.
A metal 'lug' drops in a slot in the stock under the tang of the action, it does not make contact with the action, and they refer to it as a recoil lug. My Sako and a CZ stock I have are the same way. I have the same question. is it suppost to contact the action in any way?

Before torquing the action screws, if you push the barreled action backward, it will contact the recoil lug before the screws hit the bedding pillars.

Sorry, to disagree but the lug on my Sako sits well below the action. I had to put shims under it just to get it up to be level with top of stock where the tang sits.
