Recoil lug recess

Another question for you guys.

This is a stocky stocks carbon fiber SA Rem 700 m5 imlet.

I've never owned a rem 700 type or clone before, so this is the first I have inspected an inlet. However, it looks like this recoil lug recess is far too big right? As compared to pics I've seen on the interwebs. Supposedly these stocks need no bedding. I planned to bed it anyway so I was going to receive the recoil lug recess as part of process.

This look right to you guys?

Totally normal. I’d just mill that white stuff out and bed it with my favorite epoxy.

It's made for the different thicknesses of recoil lugs. They range is from about .188" to .300"

Oh interesting, I did not know a recess could be bigger than the spec of the lug and still not need bedding. So I'm assuming it would be okay to shoot as is? Since stockys says no bedding needed?

Correct. The only part of the lug that touches is the rear. Bedding is desirable but not necessary.
