recoil lug bedding question

I have read as many threads as I have found. Most are about bedding in front of the lug.
My question is which is the right way to bed the lug.I see some fill the lug recess full of compound and bed tight (front, rear, and sides) to the lug. Then i see some tape the sides and front of lug so that there will be space and lug is not touching front and sides when compound cures.
Is there a difference in which method used?Is there a difference in accuracy in which method used?
These are probably not high tec questions, but on this forum,I know I will get high tec and honest answers.
Thank you.
Jim

IF you plan on using a factory lug, you may be better off taping the sides and bottom, but if your going to use a after market .250 tapered lug, you do not need to tape off anything but the bottom...
