Rechamber Rem 700 in small 6mm

Hi all i have to help a fellow shooter out with fittin a new 6mm 8 twist barrel 26" long as that is what he wants the rifle is currently in 6X45 and i think the 107's are a bit to heavy i believe opening the bolt face slightly to PPC would be a better option and then run a 6mm PPC or a rebated rim 6mmBR fitting a Sako extractor is not an option. can the 223 bolt face be opened up enough for the PPC case? The PPC will alse be a better fit in the magazine with 107's. This shooter will only shoot targets occasionaly mabe to 600 yards so even though the 6X45 is marginal it would work. I believe a rebated rim 6mmBR would be the best option or even a rebated rim PPC if the bolt face cant be opened just a little. The other option that would be ideal would be the 6.8SPC case necked to 6mm but i dont have access to a reamer i believe it would be his best option. The rifle will have to feed and eject reliably aswell so the PPC might not be practical.

Involves a rifle swap and then you can fiT the new barrel to an action that will take the 6BR with a bit of magazine fiddling.

I'm interested in the 6x45 -what twist is it now??

Hi P the rifle is not mine and he would not swap the barrel is a Sprinter and is RS thats why the rebarrel and faster twist the barrel will not shoot as it has large inclusions and heavy fire cracking as well as heavy copper fouling and very large radial marks from the manufacturing process. The dies are Pacific and were shortned from 6X47 dies i believe with neck, Full length and seating dies. If he does go another way the dies could be available with some new PMC cases necked up.
