Rechamber .22-250 to .220 Swift?

Could a 22-250 be rechambered to 220 Swift?
Oldman -

Howdy !

Due to differences between the two mentioned cases' major diameters, the .22-250 barrel would need to be set back ( shortened @ breech end ), external threads added; and then new chamber reamed to make the process workable.

On the face of it, this does not sound practical ( IMHO ), because..... if nothing else; the resulting barrel would have to be shortened so much that any velocity gains hoped for ( by adopting the .220 Swift chambering ) would likely not reach the level the longer stock .22-250 barrel provided. Again..... IMHO.

220 Swift case body has a smaller diameter than the 22-250.

22 Creedmoor would do it.

Peterson has 22 Creedmoor brass., or you can neck down Lapua 6 Creedmoor brass.

How about going to a 22-250 AI. A lot easier, minimum set back, no case stretching after AI is done. Faster than the swift, if you want speed.

Unless you just want the mystic of the 220 Swift, you could easily convert your chamber to a 22-250 Ackley Imp.

DickeE, we must have been typing at the same time.
