Have any of you experienced any ill effects of thread to end of action face without thead relief?

That's the way Remingtons are. If you aren't using a recoil lug, you'll need to cut a relief groove on the barrel.

I dont cut a relief if the action has a counterbore. If it does not, I will cut a small radiused groove just deep enough to let it thread on completely. I have never seen any difference in performance.

I have threaded barrels with a thread relief and without a thread relief.

If it affects accuracy, I sure can’t tell.

I like to hear what people have to say about different aspects of this type or work.
On mine I have had a recoil lug so I just backed out of thread and stopped at same time.
This tikka I traded for doesn't need that recoil lug.
I wanted to leave as much diameter on the barrel shank I could so I took that chamfer off when truing the action face.
Not sure why I didn't put a slight counterbore.

Relief cuts don't seem to hurt anything. I believe they should be radiused cuts. If there is no relief cut, the juncture of the tenon and shoulder should also be radiused. WH

Yes, radii are good....
Just so long as they don't get in the way.
