Rebarrel my 243 win 30 deg to 6ppc or 6br?

Do you think the 107s that I got with the rifle will work ok?

The 107's should work. With that twist, you can shoot the heavier 115 gr pills. You said that your range has 600 yard shooting, you've got a darn good rifle for 600-1000 yard shooting.

Well if you think it work go for it. The heel of the bullet will be down inside the neck shoulder area with that short throat. I can't understand why you would chamber a 7.5 to 1 twist with a short throat.
I could never get the 105's to shoot good in a 7.8 twist, the only thing that would shoot good in a light bullet was the 108 Berger and the bearing surface is only .007 shorter than the 115 DTAC's. You will have a lot of pressure with bullets seated that far back in the case...jim

If you have a short throat, pressure will be up and speed will be down. Last year i used a .136 free bore and the heel of the boat tail was in the shoulder neck area, i am rechambering to .155 for that reason. The Dasher likes the bullet jumped,so it seats deeper.
I use a strain gage on the bullet seater and i can see the seating pressure going up as the heel of the bullet reaches this area, you can not shoot small like that.........jim

I definitely dont want to have to load with a strain gauge. Since I am a beginner I need something simple and it seems like 6BR or PPC via re barrel is the way I need to go. Shouldn't have bought this oddball in the first place but you live and learn.

Bat 243, The barrel can be used but you have to set it up to work with the twist that in it. Set back and rechambered to a Dasher or a BRX would be my choice, with a long enogh free bore to use the 115's. In a dasher it would be .136 min that works 115,108,107 and 105's.I have had good luck with all except the 105 bergers with the 7.8 twist. The Dasher shot in the low 1's right from the start with the 115 DTAC's.
Look for a good smith and have him set it back and chamber it to dasher or BRX no turn neck with a .136 for the dasher or the BRX throated for the 115's,i can't tell you the right free bore for it,i don't use it.
This may seem a little too much but i wanted to run it by you, I would call PTG. and talk to Dave and have him make you a reamer. Then send it along with the barreled action, have him chamber it and make you a seating die and order a sizing die from redding that RCW3 sells if you go with a dasher........jim
