rear bag movement

I switched to 8:00 ish and just catch the rifle lightly, it seems to help return to battery closer to the X.
You might also try having someone else shoot the rifle.
I believe the kick happens during recoil and not in returning to battery, but that brings up another possibility, thanks. Yes on someone else shooting, another good idea

Try moving your self a little in a different position behind the rifle and see it still happens. It may be hitting you in a weird way that's causing the rifle to kick slightly one way.
Thank you. Very good idea. I'm thinking when I get shooting again, I'll align on the target, move away from rifle, trip trigger, catch recoil with free hand, return to battery. If the crosshair aligns - I am causing the issue and will work from there to figure it out. If the bag kicks right, I'll be back!

I’d verify bag is sitting perfectly flat. If not you’ll need this:

When I had a 6.5x47 shooting 130s at 2950...I saw torque.8 twist. I haven't seen this so much from the 6mm variety yet..Setting the rudder up takes hours of time with shims and movement. If you pull off for shims your left right needs adjusted again. Final results are worth effort You can draw the gun back 2 inches and the reticle never leaves center. Once shimmed correctly the hard part is over.

My position and how I manage recoil makes a huge difference. I’ve only begun to use a rudder but I can say for certainty that some stocks are just not straight and maybe even a rudder won’t be able to correct a couple I’ve seen.
Jim

I believe the problem must be something I am doing/not doing because most people don't have the issue. Thanks to all for trying to help
^^^^ This, I was getting ready to post about "it has to be you", please have someone video you shooting and I think you'll get a much better idea of what is going on, video for several shots, upload video to youtube.com and post the link here.

In my case I resolved rear bag movement by adjusting the butt pad angle/height, height of rear bag and fine tuning my body/shoulder position. I surmised the movement was happening on recoil contact with my shoulder. I’m able to run a pretty light rear bag now compared to the 20lber that hid the problem.

More than likely what is going on with me. Thanks

Got things back yesterday, had a chance to do some testing. Free recoil, plumb away from rifle, just trigger trip, rear bag moved right - cross hair left of target 1 to 3 feet - consistently. Went to work on setup, rear bag closer, farther, then moved forarm stop back all the way (I had it all the way forward before because of past testing on different stocks), rear bag back to where about 1 inch extended beyond bag and shazam - rear bag didn't move!! That was the last loaded round. Today setup again, adjusted rudder, and shot 10 rnds or so with same setup as last shot yesterday, and WOW the bag DIDN'T move!! So in my case, my shoulder position during recoil was not causing the issue, it was the setup. Now I can get back to the important stuff like reading wind! Thanks to all who tried to help. I really appreciate all the input. Hopefully this info will help someone. As a shooting friend once told me, "if your bag is moving, probably an issue with your setup" Thanks, Dave

I presume you mean the forearm stop on the front rest? Can you share a pic? My front rest only has one stop position...
Thanks,
Scott

yes a picture would be good, I’d like to see just how far the forearm extends beyond the front bag if at all .
