Rear Bag Fill - How Full?

I just got a Protektor rear bag (unfilled) which I will be filling with some black heavy sand (Sinclair). The bag is this model.

I am shooting an AR-15 using a bipod up front with this device on the rear stock for ease of movement in the bags.

I want to squeeze the rear bag to permit minor elevation changes. While impossible to quantify, just how full or firm should the bag be? And the ears?

Although I'm not personally familiar with the bag you chose, it looks like it is fairly soft-sided. I would fill the bag itself as full as I could as the soft sides will allow you to squeeze the bag enough to make the sand "stand taller" for lack of a better term. I prefer the ears to be completely full as well regardless of the stiffness the main bag sides.

I have found that the bag never really gets as full as I think it does in any case and have had to add more sand after use.

I have an Edgewood Gator bag which has stiff sides and another Edgewood bag, which is made of elk hide and is made for bag squeezers. I base my recommendations on my experience with these two.
