I finally got to go to the range with a barrel I set back. I bought a Krieger from Mike Davis chambered in his no turn BRX loved the barrel and shot some fantastic groups with it. I felt good enough about it I took it to the IBS Nats last year. A good friend was there and had a bore scope in his trailer, so I asked if we could take a look.

I not only had a carbon ring, but the first 1/2" or so had firecracking. Since I aquired my lathe, I felt this a perfect time to set this barrel back. I have a Henriksen reamer had never been used so what the heck, lets try it.

I took the barrel down to 26" from 28" and chambered it in a 6 Dasher .268" ND with .125" FB, as the greatest shooter on the planet likes that, so I thought heck yeah I can do dat too.

I took 3 bullet styles all charged with 32.5 gr RL15. The first one was terrible, I was concerned I had botched up the barrel, as nothing would come close to touch.

Next bullet was the 105 Hybrid, it clustered up nice, so I dropped down and carefully shot a 3 shot group.

Last but not least was my personal favorite the 105 VLD and the first two went together, but I had the rifle go off before I was ready on shot 3. I knew it was going to be bad, just not sure how bad, so I loaded another round and that dude went right down the middle with the first 2!!

I hope you guys have a great day, and forgive me for being sooo happy!

Way to go, Tim! I still get the same sense of accomplishment on every one. It's simply amazing what these guns can do when well steered.--Mike Ezell

Any one that shoots that good with his first chamber job, has all the right in the world to be as happy as can be... I hope ya never stop grinnin 'O)

Looks like you can pat yourself on the back for doing a good chambering job.

I have one of Henriksen's Dasher reamers on order. I hope mine shoots as well as yours does.

That barrel turned in a 1.88 Agg in Lt class. It was more conditions later in heavy and came in a very close 2nd in Heavy. I agged a 2.25 and first was a 2.24".

The real story of today was I shot beside the new World Record Holder for Score and a true gentleman to our sport. Mr. Jerry Hurt shot a 198 in Light Class. Congrats Jerry!!!

Great job Tim ;)....., I'm waiting for the UPS guy right now, I'll be chambering my first today, evreythings done on it except the chamber.

I don`t have a coolant pump, so I go .025" at a time which is 1/4 turn on the tailstock. I was able to fix it but ease off the reamer at .025" and turn off the lathe, do not draw out the reamer under power. This is one you don`t want to learn the hard way. I only did this once and found myself with a nice looking gash on the chamber wall. It polished out fine. Good luck and enjoy it, I sure did. I cut the tenon on my 6BRX and am setting it back today too. I`m off on Mondays so you know where I`ll be.... ;D
