I started to post in this thread. Then I noticed the date. Butch was a young man when this thread started! I was just a kid. Shilen is still in business, so I reckon they made it through OK. The OP may be smarter now, or maybe not. WH

Wow, This is old! I've come a long way since then, learned a few things too. This is almost a pointless thread in hindsight.
Yes, The "root" would have been the "shank" or chamber end.

I had never seen that term used before and I’m almost as old as Jackie and Butch.

I bet the replacement barrel Shilen sent him is shot out by now
