Once you get partial differential equations with variable boundary conditions to relate to barrel chambering then every barrel you chamber will be a record setter.
My master's thesis was Nuclear Engineering.
6th grade math will do most everything a gunsmith needs. However, I often do more complicated calculations to answer questions and satisfy curiosity here on the forum. Most seem to appreciate my nerdiness, some choose to ignore it which is good with me, but I do get mocked occasionally by those who feel uncomfortable around people who can calculate results rather than being surprised.
As for barrel chambering, the skills required are more practical, which is why I left physics for engineering.
