Reaching the breaking point?

News update. Joe is trying to shut down a ammunition plant in Missouri.
If memory serves it’s one of the biggest small arms plant in the USA.
What is happening, a group of liberal AGs are trying to ban the contracted operator of Lake City, a DoD-owned ammunition plant, from selling surplus ammunition commercially. Satisfying DoD ammunition demand is only a fraction of production capability, however, the DoD needs the immediate capability to increase their ammunition supply in the case of conflict.

In order to keep staff, components, and machinery functional, production needs to be continuous. If these AGs get their way, layoffs at Lake City will be imminent and resulting in losing the ability to meet war-time ammunition demand.

Could be where you live? To me, shooting at a club because that’s the only place seems frightening. Millions of acres and hundreds of miles worth of public ground out in west. For now. They are working on wrecking that too. Point is not everyone shoots in urban areas. If I had the desire and money to shoot 5 miles I’d have room.

If your post is in response to mine, as indicated, I'm missing your point.

Some shoot farther than 300 yds except for some load development, all the time.

Because some people don’t shoot at clubs in urban areas where there’s a house every quarter mile. Where you shoot deer with shotguns.

It’s not a mythical thing.

In a nutshell, it’s about resources. More people on the planet, less resources to go around.

There’s a point where disposable income isn’t. America is just on the cusp of realizing that. Well, most of us already knew it. Not a lot of chatter about a $34T debt. I’ll wager that it hits $40T before the next president evens leaves office.

There’s a lot of cans that have been kicked down the road for too long now. The roads about to end at an abutment. We don’t need vague platitudes, and smoke and mirrors, feel good sentiment, and constant BS. We need to get to work, hold people accountable and learn to just say no, when no is the best honest answer for the situation.

We need hard and fair. Hard and fair across the board brings stability and prosperity to all. And if that never happens… buckle up buttercup, we’re in for quite a ride.

On side note, I saw a pound of RE26 at a gun show this morning. $150 bucks….

I do most of the shopping for our groceries -- because my wife shops like she's a millionaire -- and she's not. A month ago I was getting pissed because a can of Nalleys chili was getting near two bucks. Today I saw it on the shelf for $3.65.!! And if you see something that looks like the price is holding steady, just look at the weight, and you'll find that it's four ounces lighter. jd
Is that canned chili?

Are you suggesting that without the federal government there wouldn’t be fire departments or roads?
Nobody specified "Federal government", however, grants are where most of those resources come from.

"Not one dime", means the impossible has to first occur...I don't think so.

Here in Montana Accurate Powders are way cheaper and shot just fine. Just this week i saw 2300/extreme/Tac/2200 all small rounds powder that where sellling around $32 to $35 a lb. and the price is way below other brands and work just as well.

I have a question, seriously, I am not being flippant but with all these new cartridges being introduced who can afford to expand their gun inventory with the associated costs of additional components, e.g., dies, bullets, brass, etc. plus adding in the load development costs of new cartridges.

Secondly, a lot of these new cartridges have high BC / heavy bullets designed for dial up scopes and long-range shooting. At the two clubs I belong, I would estimate that less 20% and probably a lot less, shoot at distances beyond 300 yards. So where is this market for these products. Are there that many shooters in need of these cartridges engaged in that kind of shooting?
Im Australian, but I expect things will be similar in other U.S. We have a few hundred ranges where each weekend, shooters are shooting from 300y/m out to 1000y or further. There will be a lot of shooters all around the world using up long range shooting components.

Not new Mexico but fairly close , Texas outside of Austin... We had to move close to Austin for my wife to finish her career... Now that she's done with them and is doing her work from home job we want away from Austin , way away... Since Tesla moved here it's effecting us 35 miles away with the traffic , people and cost of living skyrocketing... We moved to this little town to retire but it's exploded in the last five years and can only imagine what it will be 10-20 from now...

I want to sell out here where everybody wants to live and move back down south where nobody wants to live and there's nothing and buy a place big enough to hunt a deer once a year and grow a garden etc... unfortunately right now because of this mess those houses are way overpriced also... So we're kinda stuck.. Right now I don't want another mortgage , who does so I have to sell here first... I bought the full size truck in case we need to get a travel trailer while we wait on this place to sell and find or build a new one... It's only my wife , me and a huge dog...
Look at renting for a year or two. From what I am seeing, the Real Estate bubble is about to burst again. Inventories are coming way up, sales are way down and people have quit buying second and third homes. Apartments are way over built. Time to cash up and wait for awhile.

From what you say I guess we just blame the veterans themselves for being homeless, right ?
I didn't lay any blame. Any veteran that is homeless can get resources if they want them. If they are addicted to substances, they must go through a rehab program (which also includes room and board).
