Not to worry John Kerry spoke at the world economic forum, promised the world elite the U.S. is ahead of schedule for the great reset. 2030 , which includes the ban on privately owned firearms. He was speaking on behalf of the Biden/Obama political group. He also said future elections will NOT be able to reverse course.

Not news, but it seems that component prices are making jumps greater than the "cost of doing buisness" theory dictates...powder that was $50.00 a lb a year ago, is now $71.00 a pound. Roughly 35% increase (RL15.5). bullets, cases, primers.....i am old, but getting it put to ya, never gets old. Will this pricing now be stable, or does it continue until it is a luxury hobby/sport? Just curious what everyone's thoughts on this matter are...rsbhunter
If it turns out that civil unrest here at home combined with dozens of countries finally preparing for war, while there are wars ongoing, is the cause of this current shortage, then it looks like reloading will be a luxury sport till further notice.

Rsbhunter,
I feel your pain but it’s always been a luxury sport my friend. I don’t like it any better than you do but it’s the way it is. I’m a electrician in a sawmill, I think in 1989 I was making between $8.00 and $9.00 per hour and I think 4895 was about $14.00 per/lb so after taxes it took me a couple hours to buy a lb. Jump to 2024 I make almost $40 per hour and if powder is $71 per lb , I haven’t seen it that high but it takes about 2 hours still to buy a lb so really nothing has changed.

Was traveling home from a faraway doctor's appt. this afternoon & stopped at a shop on the way home. I scored a couple thousand WLRs for $120/1000 & was happy to get them after paying $140/1000 to my door for some 9 1/2s last month. It seems I reach for WLRs first for most things & the pre-Clinton stash @ $8-10/1000 is almost gone. Was starting to refill the shelves when the crud hit 4 years ago & all of a sudden LR were <POOF> gone. Between the 9 1/2s & today's purchase there should be almost enough caps to burn up the powder in the closet. Could use some more 215s or WLRMs, but...

The shop owner said he heard there's another increase coming soon.

When what's here is gone, thinking the kids can buy more if they want it. I'm about done.

Not alot of people , in this economy, can afford the small luxuries of buying the groceries they would like to. I also remember when Chevy pickups could be bought for $7,000 new, and primers were .01 cent apiece. Either way, the future is out of our hands....it is , I believe in the hands of the "elites"...rsbhunter

Americans are spoiled whiners. We want something for nothing.

I was in Italy in 2022. Powder and primer prices were the same as here, but $10-12/hr is a good paying job over there, about equal to $40/ hr here. They seem to be able to afford what they need.

Homeless people standing on the street corner begging for a dollar now need $5.00 just to get a hot cup of coffee. The government is doing nothing to help them.
If you ever think you will see an honest election again I think your wrong. Some of the things going on in political circles are a disgrace to our country. I doubt our forefathers would stand for what is going on.

Just paid $44.95 for 1lbs of imr4350... Not horrible but not great either... Primers SP and SR around $69 to $79 a thousand depends on where your buying stuff at... Keep being told by big distributors that powders going up again , everything going up again because of the wars burning it as fast as they can make it.. isn't it strange it wasn't this high three years ago , they keep saying foreign war but it's the war being waged against the 2A and Americans in general in my opinion...

I do most of the shopping for our groceries -- because my wife shops like she's a millionaire -- and she's not. A month ago I was getting pissed because a can of Nalleys chili was getting near two bucks. Today I saw it on the shelf for $3.65.!! And if you see something that looks like the price is holding steady, just look at the weight, and you'll find that it's four ounces lighter. jd

Recent yearly renewal, one of my clubs lost over ten percent of it's members. It'll be interesting to see how much practice the match shooters do beforehand.
Edit: Be thankful the U.S. doesn't have the inflation of other countries. Ten years ago I was in South Africa and their rand was worth a U.S. dime. Now it's worth a nickel and I don't know of anyone who's now making double to cover. Even uglier is that it used to be on par with the dollar, one rand equaled one dollar.
That's called the Mandela Miracle.. The ANC has destroyed the place through incompetence and corruption.

I’ve gotten to the point that if I just need one or two items, I’ll walk the whole store and shop the sale items if it’s something I use.

Hard to justify the gas for the trip without taking advantage of it.

This summer, I'm taking golf up again. Not giving up on shooting, but cutting back. Golf seems far more affordable after all these powder hikes.
I'm doing the same thing, I quit 3 years ago because of knees and hips, (new knees now) so I'm going back to swinging the club, I'll still shoot but to continue at this pace is crazy. I live on a nice golf course and can drive my golf cart to the pro shop, check in and go play vs hours in the reloading room (I really enjoy this) and then spending hours driving to a range and thousands of dollars per year to shoot and drive. Enough to give you pause.
