re: Purpose of the Nationals

Youre alienating 99% of the group shooters saying no 10.5lb guns. I agree but you go to a 100person 4 gun match and youll be lucky to see a 13.5. Until they change the rules thats just the way it is. Id rather shoot a hv because they just work better and hide a few bad habits but as long as 2 of the 4 classes call for it we’re stuck. In this match nothing is saying theres a 10.5lb limit- i proposed it to be all hv
I agree with all but your first statement. Since most group shooters are already shooting their 10.5lb guns in the 13.5lb class, I don't see how that's alienating them. Less restrictive rules, by their very nature, alienate fewer people.

Look it up. It's not really close anymore.

Mike

I think you need to look it up! The super shoot normally runs around 180. This year since it’s the the last Super Shoot held at Kelbly’s its looking like 300 to 350. Just the East /West will have as many as the UBR Nationals this year. Everyone there competing for the same 2 Gun. Not carved up into several subcategories.

I'm not arguing. I have looked up the numbers and it takes time.
It doesn't matter in the context of this thread. Let's move on.

We will shoot 2 days no doubt. When i go to a match i go to shoot. Im not an advocate of sitting around much when i travel 8hrs to a match. Hopefully we can make it happen

you do not see a play off for football with volleyball with soccer with tennis, just because they all use balls in their games.
just because rifles are used is not reason to try for a playoff in multiple shooting sports.
just plain silly.
one rifle, under f class weight, 100/200/300/600/1000 yards.
would prove nothing as there is no class that matches.
tv tried this with top shot ,they ended up with knives, bows and arrow and proved nothing.

One rifle hasnt been mentioned. That would be silly. We’ll use the rifles designed for the targets we choose

I think you are kind of missing the Benchrest Part of this. If for f class shooting for group are they going to use moving backers or are they not needed .....just kidding on the last part

Guys this is a great conversation piece and the thought of the Tack driver showdown has done EXACTLY what we wanted it to do, create some excitement and I WILL make this happen this year on 11-14-2020 at Orangeburg SC! I'm sure we will find ways to improve and make the 2nd one better and change a few things, but we are trying to get our "shooting family" together for a "fun" match and see exactly what rifle/person is the best at 300 METERS on that weekend. The interest and excitement is overwhelming and I feel certain we will be at full attendance. We will make it a FULL weekend of shooting so everyone can hopefully justify the trip. Many have already stepped up and made gracious donations and we are only 1 week into the planning!

Oct/Nov are dominate hunting months of the year in many states. Bad timing IMO
SC is Eastern seaboard. Geographically a poor decision IMO
120 limit.... is not promoting it to be a big grand event for all

February/March, at a range located some where from Texas up to Nebraska, and drop the limit bs

Thanks for your opinion Donovan. I'm sure you know what they say about opinions, if not call me and I will explain it to you. You have the ability to host a match however you see fit in whatever part of the country you would like. Good luck in your endeavor and may you have 300-400 people attend yours. I wish you well.

You hit the nail on the head Jim. Thank you for putting this together. You could give him a 20K gold bowling ball and he would find fault.
