Re-ground reamer to larger FB or use Uni-Throater?

Can PT&G reground my current 284 Shehane PT&G reamer to a .235 FB from its original 0.188 FB?

If re-grinding is an option, I was just wondering if anyone knows the general cost to get a reamer re-ground.

Is it worth it to go the reground route or should I just keep using my 7mm uni-throater?

Keep in mind it may not actually be a .188. Ask them the check it on their optical comparator and make it .050" longer than it is.

I think thats like going to an auto parts store and asking for neg space wheel adapters, so you can move your wheel in !

Wouldn't changing from .188 to .235FB be adding metal?
How do you do that with a re-grind/sharpen?

Nope...just making the FB longer. Get a UNI throater. Why risk messing up a reamer not knowing if you will truly get what you specify.

Ok, but I still don't understand.
Please educate me.
If freebore is the amount of rifling cut away after the end of the case mouth, say using round numbers, .200, now you want the FB lenghtened to .250, how do you regrind to make it longer?

I would sell the one you have and order a new one with the freebore you want.

Don't sell the current one until you try the new one and it works "as advertised". ;)
