Re-contouring a barrel

I year ago I had a fat F-class rifle built for me using a 27" satern strait tapper barrel. How easy would it be to recontour it or should I just leave it alone. Should I have not gone with the strait tapper?

why exactly do you want to recontour it? I'm from the school of 'if it ain't broken don't fix it'

i would leave it as is. by the way, i live here in iowa--satern is also here in iowa--and i wanted one of their barrels, but can not seem to get ahold of them--by email or phone. how did you get one of their barrels?

got it a year and half ago before they were busy. I think their name is out there more now.

If it is shooting well now, I would not re-contour it because; I believe their barrels are button pull rifled and the manufacturing process adds internal stress to the barrel. By re-contouring it, you change those stresses. Again if it's shooting well, leave it alone. If it isn't shooting up to your expectations, then go right ahead and re-contour.
