RCBS Universal Hand loading Priming tool problem with Remi 7 1/2 primer

Hi:
I'm sorry to ask such a basic question with so many experts here but I have a 6PPC rifle. When loading primers into my 6PPC cases with RCBS Universal Hand Priming Tool I have run into a problem. When I use the large insert the primers load only when I jiggle them into position (to center them sort of speak). When I use the small inserts the primers don't come into the primer seat. I am using 71/2 Remington rifle bench rest primers.

I have not run into this problem at all with any of my other primers.

The picture is taken showing how the primer does not fall into place and gets stuck. The RCBS has the small inserts in.

Thank you

check the difference in primer dimensions. this might be the cause. is it something u could relieve or open up using a file or dremel tool?

Thanks for the link.
It should really not happen. I will call RCBS on Monday and see what they say.
I think since it does not happen with other primers, I will use these up and go back to my CCI primers which had no issue.

I would do a little measuring and sanding to get rid of the tightness causing the problem.

I measured the diameter of the CCI small pistol primers (no. 500) I have @ 0.1745 inches and the height at 0.118 inches.
For the CCI small rifle primers (no. 400) the diameter is 0.175 and the height is 0.120 inches.
For the Remi No 7 1/2 small rifle bench rest primers the diameter is 0.174 and the height 0.123

After I did the measurements, I loaded the CCI small rifle primers into the loader first as their height is very close to the problematic remi's. A little sticking until I figured that if I have the tray completely vertical, I loaded without an issue. Doing the same with the remi's and they still stick.

In conclusion, I think the remi's are a bit too tall for this device.

Dear friends:
I called RCBS 2x each time was on hold for 15 min listening to music.
Both times, I was told there is no CSR and they will call back.
This was day 2 and no one has called.
IMO, poor customer service.

Day 3; no calls; I give up.

I've been using 7 1/2s in the 6PPC and 30BR forever, seating them with my RCBS hand priming tool.

Make sure the pin that pushes the primers into place has no burrs on it, that the flat side is facing up and the rounded side is down and that the outside of it is smooth and that the cavity or tunnel that it rides up and down in is smooth on its interior surface too.

In fact, I took mine all apart when I first purchased it, and smoothed all surfaces with very fine sand paper and 0000 steel wool. There were a lot of small burrs that caused the same type of problem you're describing.

Use the SMALL insert for SMALL Primers. Check the insert for burrs too.

See if that helps.

It's not the primers. :)

Try to e mail them. I had a tumbler the motor went out on e mailed them and they sent a new one at no charge to me.

My Lee hand primer was misfeeding when I first got it.After I looked at it real good it had a burr in it. After I removed it I have never had a problem.
