rcbs precision mics

I never see on this forum that people are using the rcbs precision mics....I have a set for everything that I load. They are great for setting up sizing dies and adjusting bullet seating depth. I adjust my redding micrometer die down a thousandth and the precision mic follows right along. What's other reloaders thoughts on these?

There was a time when all we had available to us for making this measurement was the Wilson type drop in visual gages. Then the RCBS Precision Mike came out in the mid 1980s and was a big improvement and I used them for many years. Then Redding came out with their instant indicator which was an improvement over the RCBS tool although the Redding tool was more expensive. I now use the Redding Instant Indicator because it is more convenient and maybe a little more accurate and it will do some other measurements also but I still have the Redding Precision Mike(s) that I use as a back up or in teaching folks new to reloading.

At the same time when there was a time there were reloaders that understood the datum was not a line. They never perceived the L.E. Wilson case gage as a drop in gage, they read the instructions.

The same reloader that understood the L.E. Wilson case gage was not a drop in gage used barrels as chamber gages. I have one RCBS precision gage for the 223. I do not use it but I have it just in case.

I use the RCBS precision mic since one can get a quick measurement and it's relatively cheap except for the Hornady/Stoney Point tool.
