RCBS powder measure - is this normal?

This is a brand new competition powder measure. Seems like this is far too sloppy right?

Maybe I'm missing a part? Is there supposed to be a bushing or something that keeps the drum centered?

Seems like a lot of play to me. The old uniflow‘s weren’t like that.

I guess the hole in the cylinder is only so big, so it should still work correctly.

My measure had a little play. I used a brass strip on the drum that adds a little pressure on the body and takes the play out.

That looks bad, but probably isn't a problem. Look down through the reservoir, and if the hole in the drum is smaller and not obstructed by the hole in the casting, it should cut the charge accurately. Now if the diameter of the drum is sloppy in the casting you've got a real problem. jd

Or just show this to RCBS. I bet they will send you a new one.

It looks like your micrometer powder adjustment is smaller diameter than the standard nut that attaches on the non-micrometer version.
That nut is what takes up the play on mine. jd

If your not happy with it I'd call RCBS and settle it with them.
